Enter the realm of outdoor education, where the great outdoors becomes a powerful catalyst for the development of essential social and emotional skills. Wilderness Escape is dedicated to unraveling the transformative role of outdoor education in nurturing not only academic minds but also emotionally intelligent and socially adept individuals.

It happens in a moment. A student halfway up a rock face pauses, frozen by fear and doubt. Below, an instructor calmly encourages: “Take a breath, look around, and take the next step.” The student exhales, refocuses, and reaches the top—exhausted, but transformed. These quiet turning points—part challenge, part breakthrough—are common in outdoor education. And for students in the middle years of schooling, they’re more than just powerful memories. They’re moments of growth.

We’re thrilled to introduce Clayton Shaw as the newest member of the Wilderness Escape Outdoor Adventures leadership team. Clayton steps into the role of Head of Camps & Business Development with a deep passion for outdoor learning and many years of experience across the education, leadership, and client engagement space. He’s worked with schools, organisations, and communities across South Australia to design and deliver meaningful outdoor programs that leave a lasting impact on students and staff alike.
