Whether its basic skills sessions included in your aquatics camp, a day surf session on the Fleurieu Peninsula or even specialized surf focused camp in the South East- we have it covered!
Our surfing and body boarding sessions are definitely a popular favourite with our clients. All ages are catered for with ‘Surf Safety’ sessions for the younger ages, ‘Basic Skills’ for beginners, right through to ‘Intermediate’ and ‘Advanced’ surf specialist programs.
We use 6-8ft long foam boards which are great to learn on and well suited to the beaches we use. Clients are provided with full bodied 3mm wetsuits to use for the sessions year round. Clients will receive tuition on balancing, standing, technique as well as identifying surf hazards and learn some of the local surf language….hang ten!
The majority of the surf safety & basic skills sessions are run from Goolwa & Middleton beaches, with the constant sets of waves of varying sizes being a perfect starting point for beginners as well as for furthering skills and experience. For the more advanced experience we take our clients to the south-east region of Robe and the infamous Yorke Peninsula.
WEOA’s surf instructors are qualified through the governing body, Surfing SA and have Surf Rescue qualifications through Surf Life Saving Australia.
Surf Safety sessions are based around educating the clients on beach & surf hazards such as identifying rips and learning about the different types of waves. Clients will get the chance to body board as part of the session. This is a good introductory session on a surf camp, or an alternative to a surfing session for younger ages.
